adventures of the interior kind
in the grocery store the other day, the maine home + design magazine called out to me. the last issue i bought was ...probably about a year ago, and was all about their super-insulated eco homes and designers. this one was interior design and sadly... was a little disappointing.

asian dinner
but, wait, you say. that looks like cheesey jalapeno boats with crab cake and arugula and a curry beef pot pie in a crispy filo/croissant hybrid dough with beet salad. that's not asian..

liz's laundry
only these first two outfits were worn to work.. but they received quite the bevy of compliments, including an awkward conversation with basically my entire department [boss included] questioning had i ever even worn any piece before, how ginormous is my closet, can i take them shopping, how do i come up with outfits, and did i buy each thing especially for valentine's day.

a refashioned peplum
remember this loverly llbean dress purchased just about a month ago? well after a good wash and dry [which removed an obscene amount of dog hair and ..a used tissue], the dress waited for inspiration to strike.

blizzardy blizzard.
it snowed. supposedly a record breaking 31.9 inches. but seriously with 55 mph winds and snow banks over 6' next to bare ground...how do you really know? and monday it snowed another inch or two. and then rained.

pro tip of the day
rolos are amazing. chewy caramel coated in chocolate and pressed into a weird little not quite cylindrical trapezoid shape. unwrapped mini rolos in ~1 cup bags are even better.
DO NOT BAKE WITH THEM.
just eat them out of the bag. or in ice cream. or out of the bag. by the handful
fortunately my sink disposal can handle chunks of rock hard scorched caramelized ..caramel. and the cookies tasted pretty delectable... but i had to hack things off my spatula and quite a few cookies looked like someone had sampled them. but really they just fell apart in gooey lumpy gobs. and there were crumbs EVERYWHERE.
bahh.

swarovski swag
remember i won something??! well... i finally made some jewelries this weekend. and it reminded me of two things. one: i have the smallest desk in the land. two: i need a craft room. but that is for a future post.
i unpacked the swarovski kit and dug out my jewelry/craft/beading box and ... after a fruitless 20 minute search for wire cutters... used the slightly ghetto wire cutting section on my scissors. not ideal.

zucchini curly fries
because i ask for weird things on my amazon wish list, i got a vege spiralizer from my sis for my birthday. also due to the very small storage ability of my kitchen...things tend to get placed in my living room/coat closet and lie dormant for some time. but behold. zucchini! spiralized!

liz's laundry
a couple thoughts. first, i straightened my hair which garnered a lot of compliments at work, criticism from my best friend for not being curly, and made me realize on my attempted way to growing my hair out... the back looks terrible. so i cut it. so much for this attempt at medium-length hair. next, this pink/peach/salmon skirt is the most annoying piece of clothing i own. and it may have to back in my next goodwill donation bag. its 2 sizes too big so i figured it could be a hip skirt. but its lined in cotton which is static city, and its weirdly under-knee length. lastly, yes we are supposed to have a legit blizzard tomorrow. and i wore open toed shoes. i figure its my last chance until... april.

subpar soup
chicken laksa, tom ka gai, or any other asian chicken coconut soup from a restaurant is pretty much heavenly. make it at home... and its like a sandwich or salad. same ingredients, same process, not-quite-terrible but disappointing result..
poached chicken, rice noodles, egg noodles, curry paste, coconut milk, chicken broth, bean sprouts, snow peas, and even minced lemongrass
i followed the recipe to a t. and the resulting steamy bowl of soup? meeh.
fail.
