what lies beneath
probably the creepiest movie i ever voluntarily watched. i avoid ghosty/haunting/tub drowning/psychological thrillers at all costs. but i digress.
what lies beneath layers of painted-over wallpaper?
secret asian forests!

good idea, bad idea
good idea: gallon of sheetrock all-purpose pre-mixed joint compound. aka mud.
bad idea: gallon of ultra-strip ultimate paint remover.
correctly applied mud can turn a bashed out plaster/wallpaper/paint chunk/bubble/crack into a nice smooth wall. like servpro says "like it never even happened." or so i hope. im not entirely sure how it will take paint+primer without a primer coat.. but i guess trial and error has worked so far for me.

my kind of housework
that was followed by my first wheezy congested trip to home depot, and an early bedtime. saturday i got up at 7, called home depot's rental department to find the one truck [thats right. singular] had already been rented. i went and bought a step ladder which proved to be more than sufficient, 3 ridiculously expensive gallons of paint, trim paint, and ceiling paint, and returned home to stare at the walls some more.
not pictured: me snurffling around home depot like the most disgusting ball of sickness you have ever witnessed. i think everyone who had to help me was a little worried i wouldnt ever make it out of the store.

further adventures in portland
on the request of the seester's boyfriend, we ventered into both coast city comics and casablanca comics. according to him [this was maybe my second time in a comic book store...ever] coast city was more what he was looking for - slightly dingy, underground, a little hipster, but dear god not so terribly mainstream like casablanca.

the seester turns 30
monday my older sister hit the 3 decades mark. we celebrated the previous weekend by indulging in maine restaurant week.
friday night was dinner at point five - the bar [that i didnt know existed] within the insanely over priced 555. appetizers were rutabaga soup with ...wait for it. ..warm ginger meringue and jalapeno gel, and date stuffed arancini with curry dipping sauce. the soup was amazing, despite the questionable raw egg and slightly too molecular gastronomy wannabe-esque gel. roasty root vege soup gets me every time. not pictured: the three baskets of bread we snarfed down with baking soda bread and mini biscuits

cracking under pressure
the marketing department at work sent a company wide email to the effect of "free shit in the conference room". that consisted of shirts and hats emblazoned with our logo and one of our co-branded logos. now god knows how long theyve been holding onto these things as.. most were xxxxl or xxlt. someone found me a heavy cotton/canvas shirt and said "i bet you could make something out of this." i said...challenge accepted.
welp. slight fail.
