ufo sightings

probably not my most original thrift/refashion ever.. but i apparently forgot that i knew how to do elastic ruching for .. oh the last year.  or two.  and with my amazing chalk skills [sidewalk sized not fancy sewing sized] i ruched 3 rows at the waist, and holy crap the lines are straight.  genius.

i bought some elastic and "vintage" belt buckles on etsy.  and made some belts.  after the pieces sat on my desk since ahem.  august.  looking downward in shame.

sweet, spicy, and sloth?

andes mint chip whoopie pies may constitute several of the seven deadly sins.  well most probably gluttony, greed, and lust.  and since i baked them a bit of pride, some wrath [as with all baking], perhaps envy if i dont share with my whole office, and definitely sloth after eating.  so there.  all 7.  excellent.

lady suits

sooooo work clothes.  we had a new guy start in our department this week.  i assume he is younger than i am, only due to the fact that he is still finishing an undergrad degree.  but in all reality i could be totally wrong.  regardless, the 3 days he has been at our office he has worn slacks, a collared shirt, and a skinny tie.  relatively chic for a guy and yet not too much for a "business casual" office.  then again, thankfully, far from pushing the lazy line that most of our guys adapt, ie... wrinkled khaki cargos and a mussed tee. 

but back to the title of the post.  guy clothes are easy.  i have two good friends starting work soon and they are looking for what we have coined "lady suits".  biz casual for our generation does not mean a staid uniform of pencil skirts and collared secretary shirts.  and this is probably the most words ive strung together in paragraph form in months.  and i my first foray into polyvore.  this could potentially be yet another dangerous timesuck.  soooo pictures.

but not together.  that would be the craziest salad ever.  top row: buttermilk marinated chicken aka chicken parm minus the marinara and mozz.  middle: kaaaaale chips!  with parm.  bottom: blueberry cornmeal muffins.  subpar right out of the oven.  hopefully theyve improved after sitting for a day.  cos im feeding them to the seester and taking the rest to work...

weekend adventures

a friend/former coworker flew in for the weekend.  we packed in about two weeks worth of adventuring into 4 [ish] days.  and walked a crapton. 

thursday: she arrived at 1130pm, we stayed up chatting until 2.

friday: stand up paddle boarding lesson, delicious fries and paninis [duck confit and corned beef tongue ruben] at duckfat, and then home relatively early to watch a terrible hilarious remake of 21 jump street.
