my karl rosenfield peonies!! about quadruple the size this year, and such a gorgeous color! i brought a couple indoors and aside from smelling just slightly sickly sweet, they lasted surprisingly well, until a gusty day brought aaaall the petals into a mass on the floor. a couple more are sending out a second bud, so a few more weeks of blooms

afuera de mi casa
if you ignore that little strip of blue in the dormer and the sad sack shutters i still have yet to remove... my house looks pretty damn cute. and the all the green stuff around it is doing surprisingly well. to the left of the porch, the forsythia expands every year with a vengeance, and was only about a month late this year due to crappy crap weather. to the right is apparently named fairy queen, and has delicate looking wispy branches that flower all of a sudden. when the wind blows, little petal tornadoes abound. the bush furthest to the right is a type of flowering quince that only flowered after i hacked about half of it away last summer. it filled in quite nicely but is again threatening to climb right in my kitchen windows and will be tackled shortly.

gardening galore
in case you were wondering, though it took me the entire summer, i did finally find the matching color spray paint to finish my pair of adirondack chairs!
i also stumbled upon a end-of-summer perennials sale at a nursery, and proceeded to spend more than a few dollars on plants. the fluffy grey things are "silver mound" wormwood.

organization in rainbow order
after years of storing my nail polish in bins where i couldnt find any particular color on the first try, i gave in and bought a nail polish holder. this one to be exact. i then promptly sat it on the floor in the hallway between my bedroom and the bathroom for about 3 months. i kept thinking i would finish the dungeon-like wall of horror, but ADD and other such things have caught up with me, and it is still half plastered and about 30% complete. i also need to borrow a shopvac so i stop taking years off the life of my dyson. so i primed the unfinished wall in the hallway, drilled some holes, and after much pomp and circumstance, finally hung up the rack.

belated garden progress
yep you read those dates right. over a month ago. since then, my tomatoes have grown so tall they toppled over, the zucchini was transplanted and promptly died... and everything else looks about the same.

hitting paydirt
weeeell maybe an exaggeration. but the garden is growing! amazingly enough since weve had one of the coldest springs in awhile, with interspersing of a couple 95 degree days, maybe... 6 other sunny days, and gallons of rain.
also, if you follow me on instagram... you already saw these when i flooded my feed this morning.
5 massive lettuces and..a hole?
