my fancy pants new phone shoots oddly proportioned high def pics. it also has an auto hdr sensor which i may turn off since i feel the pics below are over processed. they were all taken on a surprisingly cold windy spring day at the former fort preble site on the smcc campus.

eeesh.
this lovely was at the grocery store today. would you pay $2.49 for unidentifiable fish meat?
on a different note, my week shaped up a bit differently than planned. monday i received an email announcing the zagat event was postponed due to rain. booooo. and yes it did rain every day for an entire week straight. tuesday my interview went pretty well and we met at panera... so i had the new steak and white cheddar panini. the horseradish spread was a bit of a surprise as i apparently lack reading skills, but it was mostly just unpleasant bitter rather than burning. and paired with chicken noodle, it was perfect for rainy-day-last-minute-paper writing. wednesday instead of the food truck event, i worked on paper reading and picked up the roommate at school for a bit of shopping...
whilst browsing the plethora of racks at forever 21, my preset phone date with the potential internship firm approached. suffice to say... i did a happy dance in the middle of the store for my full-time paid summer internship, with the possibility of working part-time in the fall while finishing my last two classes! it nearly made up for the fucking B- i got in a class. thursday and friday went as expected with only some minor panicking about finishing reading honors papers. they were eventually finished and saturday we trekked in to see apocalyptica!!!
amazing.

the last week of the semester
here is what my week has on tap:
sunday: work at the restaurant and freak out about homework
monday: give my last presentation for the semester and freak out about homework
tuesday: finish homework [actual hw assignment and 2 term papers] and interview for summer internship
wednesday: FREEDOM!! and zagat lunch truck event in the city with a roommate
thursday: drive friend to court thing and then wonder if i got the internship
friday: work at the restaurant
saturday: possibly have a roommate work at the restaurant for me and freak out at an apocalyptica concert!
lots of freaking out to be had as i have become quite the spastic ball of panic with a very short fuse. so until i have more time... here is part of dessert from the bday bbq-strawberry pie filled margarita glasses
*edit: insert "frantically reading honors papers and submitting comments" somewhere before thursday and cleaning hell-hole of bedroom ...on friday morning?

liz's laundry [and jewelry]
two things i have recently come to accept: in summer i have troy polamalu hair and its ok; i like shiny shit like a crow. since i am once again restaurant-employed, i wear all or mostly black with variations on the same outfit friday, saturday, and sunday. but i wear overly garish jewelry to compensate.
gakk.
- silk dress: lucky brand [from sample sale]
- green leggings: forever 21
- worn with green kenneth coles and wind + humidity = huge hair
gakk.

flowering trees on campus
magnolia and the sun glare from the chemistry building
same tree, taken while trying desperately not to be blown away in gale force winds
click to zoom in on a semi-decent shot of the petals blowing around.

hell hath frozen
as of 2:30am on monday october 18th, i, liz zelnick, am finished with homework for the following classes with the following deadlines:
monday: enviro disputes-progress report for term paper on ethanol
tuesday: risk assess-probabilty box plot homework and term project topic choice
thursday: enviro politics-outline and source list for term paper on hydrofracking
saturday [oct 30]: low carbon society-download and explore renewable energy project analysis program
I AM FUCKING AHEAD OF SCHEDULE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SCHOOL.
possibly ever.
celebrations are in order but it is a bit too late for that tonight. it turns out its also probably too late to vacuum my room which is an absolute disaster of papers, laundry, kitty hair, my hair, sewing projects, and miscellaneous stuff due to rampant procrastination, but that's pretty much a given.

what to wore to school today
as suggested by hiking in stilettos, dressing for grad school is basically jeans + top. and this week has pretty much been about my new [sale!] gap jeans. unfortunately, i went for the size that fit perfectly when trying on instead of the size smaller that was slightly muffin-top-forming. unfortunately..as these jeans stretch out so frikkin much i need a belt after about half an hour and have to be washed and dried between each wearing, totally defeating the purpose of jeans-multiwears.
monday: diagnosis of environmental disputes

art? whaaaat?
for my "environmental politics and policy" [in the political science department] our first assignment was to draw good and bad environments that surround us. as it turns out.. i do still know how to draw. sort of. but the witty arrows make up for any shortcomings in my artistic skills.
closeups to see some of my commentary...
i drew in a "stray cat crossing" in front of bob's house
and unfortunately i cut it off in this picture, but bottom right reads "2 generations of alcoholic neighbors". im interested to see what the other 30 + students come up with. theyre all in polysci and are studying for the LSATs cos they "want to go to law school"... woo.
