selden thrift

my thrifting ladies and i failed at planning a trip to savers, so selden thrift had to be substituted.  much grubbier, higher prices [many quite unreasonable], less selection, and a little sketch.  but its a thrift store.  im just spoiled.  my haul:
green striped blanket, hand-woven in mexico
a close up.  and i do have the kodachrome setting on my camera pretty much standard... so no, it isnt really that bright.  kind of a jungle green actually.  but i liked the shot.
a furry bolero vest i plan to wear over normal every-day clothes to school.  or work.  just cos i can.
a shiny red men's shirt, soon to be made into a skirt [cos i really need more..]
an also shiny blue women's dress.  not a bathrobe/nightgown/trainwreck like i originally thought.
see that polyestery close up?  there will be a brief photo essay on how i hacked the dress apart.  ridiculously easy really.

also, i procured a lace curtain and did stuff with it.

linking up to erica's recycled fashion finds!

liz's laundry

mostly fall/autumn weather is officially here [calendar-wise as well]!!!  thank frikkin god.  i can now, fully clothed, sit at the kitchen table, breathing...not covered in sweat.  and also walk from the house to my car without succumbing to heatstroke with a humidity-induced 'fro.
  • michael jackson jacket: couture romeo & juliet
  • tank and skirt: h&m
  • brown belt: charlotte russe
  • scarf and leggings: unknown
  • sweater: jcrew [from the sister]
  • dress: target
  • earrings: cheap store in downtown port jeff village
lots o bracelets.  and they all matched stunningly if i do say so.  and yes the angles are all screwy.  auto-turn in blogger is really starting to piss me off.  but they do fit on the page nicely this way and im much too lazy to reload.

the above outfit was worn to eat this deliciousness:
one might ask, why liz, is that bowl shaped like a fish?  and i would say...fuck yea it is!  and its filled with green curry and fried tilapia.  we had roommate dinner at a thai restaurant near work.  ah-mazing.  and i ate it allllll.
  • dress: h&m
  • scarf: uniqlo
  • purple leggings [not horrid skin discoloring disease]: charlotte russe [$5 sale!!]

the breakfast experience

near our office is a full service deli/restaurant/catering business.  excellent [though a little pricey] food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  this morning i stopped in to grab a bacon/egg/cheese croissant in the hopes of staving off another shitty shitty day.  so far it has worked.  here was my exchange:

me-walking up to line to pay for my croissant sandwich, turkey wrap [for lunch-pictured above]; i grabbed a bag of chips

old guy: WHOA you kinda crept up there on me
me: uh sorry
old guy: didnt even hear you until you crinkled those chips.  all stealth-like
me: uh yup

me-dropped bag of chips cos im awesome, then bent down to get them
old guy-does old man heave trying to help me with chips
me-placed chips back on counter before old guy reaches floor

old guy: whoa youre a fast one there
me: kinda..
old guy: what are you 25?
me: yup
old guy: wow.  young and fast
me: umm k bye

usually when people try and make small talk just for the sake of hearing their own dribble it annoys me.  today however, it was pretty hilarious and all i could do not to straight up laugh at the guy.

and the croissant was DELICIOUS

*edit* the pinwheels were lacking but i will definitely attempt the sliced turkey-slaw-rollup idea in the future.
